Overview of the Certification

The application needs to be completed within 90 days of commencement. Post submitting it online, an application completeness review of 5 days is carried out. The application payment process follows. One cannot schedule the test until this is complete.  The audit process takes 90 days within which all documents are to be submitted. The PMI processes audit materials within 5-7 days. The eligibility of a candidate depends on this.

From the date of application, the validity for the multiple questions test stays on for a year. Within this time frame, a candidate can make three attempts. The certification cycle commences as soon as one has passed the test. Certificate maintenance requires up to three years. Within this period the candidate is expected to earn and report 30 professional development units.

Credential renewal can be applied for after completing 30 professional development units. At this point, a renewal fee is levied. Credential suspension is levied if the candidate fails to complete 30 professional development units within three years. Once the credential has expired, the candidate is required to reapply for the entire process.
