Choosing and designing effective online degree programs can be a challenge. Several top-tier schools, including the University of North Carolina, Georgetown University, and Berkeley, put several of their graduate programs online through 2U, an education technology company Starbucks announced a partnership with Arizona State University to offer its benefits-eligible employees full tuition reimbursement to complete their degrees online.
If policymakers and educational leaders can understand and anticipate those impacts, they can create a welcoming environment for educational innovation – an environment in which the use of online learning to improve the quality of education, strengthen colleges and universities, and improve access to higher educational resources for all who want to learn will flourish.
The beautiful thing about taking classes online is that you can pick and choose the classes you want to attend, skip lectures and come back to them later (in some cases – some classes require your regular attendance and participation!), and do examinations and quizzes on your own time.
